Night at Las Iguanas

I find it hard sometimes to go out for dinner as I hate being a pain and making a fuss about being vegan. I typically spend a few hours looking through various menus making sure that I can eat at certain mainstream restaurants. However recently I have noticed that many restaurants have started making clear if they serve vegan options or they even have their own vegan menus. Last week my boyfriend and I visited Cardiff. Before we went I decided to make a reservation at Las Iguanas, a South American style restaurant, as we have never eaten there before, due to not knowing if they served vegan options. Las Iguanas have a vegan/vegetarian menu consisting of a few different options including a tapas dish and as soon as I found out they catered for vegans I had to try.

We got the taco plank to start, which was delicious and consisted of grilled soft tortillas topped with a mixture of vegetables in a spicy chilli sauce. For my main I decided to try the veggie chilli. The veggie chilli was a Mexican style dish made with sweet potato, butternut squash, pink pickled onions & chickpeas served with more soft wheat tortillas. Dessert was different to what I normally would order, but I'm always up for trying something new. Obviously we had to have a dessert. So we decided to share a mango sorbet and their other vegan option which was tembleque, which was a creamy coconut pudding served with a berry compote. I loved the sorbet however I have to admit I was not the keenest on the texture of the tembleque.

It was a lovely evening and I would definitely eat there again. The atmosphere was amazing, lively however not chaotic. The food was delicious and the service was amazing.
